  • Political infighting will further complicate efforts to agree IMF loan terms, fuelling ongoing economic deterioration in coming weeks
  • Protracted economic hardship and implementation of austerity measures will fuel discontent and sustain large-scale anti-government protests
  • Protests will increase risk of surge in COVID-19 infections, sustaining possibility of renewed lockdown that would further undermine economy


24 June 2020 – Israel-Palestine


  • Increase in COVID-19 infection rates will prompt Israeli government to reimpose restrictions but return to full lockdown unlikely for now
  • Targeted measures imposed by Tel Aviv will mean Israel is able to ensure relatively flat peak in event of further rises in infection rate
  • Acceleration of cases will be more problematic in Palestinian territories, where surge risks overwhelming inadequate healthcare facilities
