The US House of Representatives passed three bills on 15 October in support of the Hong Kong protest movement. These included the PROTECT Hong Kong Act, which bans the export of riot gear to the city, and the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, which allows sanctions against officials and introduces a regular review of the city’s special trading status.
