Charles joined Falanx Assynt as Managing Director in July 2017. After graduating from Oxford with a Degree in PPE, Charles spent fourteen years serving at home and overseas with the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office. He has worked in Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Iran, as well as at the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York. Charles has led client projects on market entry, business intelligence and investigations as well as political risk and government affairs issues.

James joined Falanx Assynt in 2016. He previously worked for various political and security risk consulting firms, including Control Risks, Maplecroft and IHS Janes. James has worked as a journalist, including for Bloomberg, al-Jazeera and the BBC, covering political, security and financial issues from around the Middle East. James has been widely quoted in the international media.

Chris joined Assynt in 2017. He has over 12 years’ professional experience in the intelligence analysis and consulting sector with Drum Cussac and G4S Risk Management. He holds a 1st class MA in Geopolitics, Territory and Security from Kings College, London. Chris heads up the commercial and customer side of the Assynt business.

Ashlea joined Falanx Assynt in 2014. She is responsible for leading the firm’s strategic intelligence offering, which includes developing market entry strategies, end-to-end political and security risk mapping, and subsequent risk mitigation strategies, conducting due diligence on entities and individuals, and generating plans for stakeholder engagement.

Dan Arenson manages both business intelligence and political and security risk projects. He previously worked as a risk and intelligence analyst at an international telecoms firm, providing regular security assessments, market entry analysis and due diligence reports with special emphasis on the Middle East and Former Soviet Union. He holds a BA in Russian and French from the University of Oxford, and is fluent in both languages.
